The clients had this parcel in mind as the ideal location for their retirement home: a stone house that achieved the remarkable LEEDS Gold Certification. The landscape contributing to this prestigious honor. The concept for the house was imagined from travels in the French countryside. To appear as though emerging from the native landscape, the house was fortressed with a circular brick wall that contains a more formal garden space. The wall also surrounds a sophisticated stormwater management system that stores all the collected rainwater. The permeable driveway also captures the pavement portion of the runoff and rain gardens with native species provide natural groundwater recharge and privacy on the modest ocean lot.
